Mayra Navarro is originally from Raleigh, NC. As a child, she attended classes at the Poe Center and developed a life-long appreciation for health education. She is a student at North Carolina State University and is currently studying middle grades science education.
Mayra started working at the Poe Center part-time as a Spanish health educator in August, 2015. Mayra enjoys educating children, teens and the Spanish-speaking community about proper nutrition.
In her free time, she likes to volunteer with local agencies involved in nutrition education and hunger relief, such as the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, the Food Bank Of Central And Eastern North Carolina, and the Wilmington St. Men’s Shelter. Mayra also enjoys baking, going to concerts and keeping up with beauty trends.
