Ann Rollins - Executive Director

Ann Rollins has been a Microbiologist in the Pathology Department at WakeMed for over 30 years. She began full time then moved to part time when her children were in school and now works in a casual position there. Ann just left the Wake County Public School System where she was the administrator of the Partnership for Educational Success and Parent Liaison Programs. In this role she identified, coordinated, and implemented programs and strategies that linked families and the community with the schools in order to strengthen student success in partnership with the Wake County Human Services staff. Ann began working with Wake County Public School System as the MentorWake Administrator. In this position, she oversaw all aspects of program operations including the selecting of students, recruitment, screening, training, and support of volunteer mentors, and the matching of volunteer mentors to referred students. Ann coordinated the development of all mentor recruitment and training activities, cross cultural, leadership and family involvement activities, program publications, training materials, MentorWake website, and evaluation instruments

Ann is married to Tom Rollins and has three children: Charlotte, Michelle and Matthew, as well as a dog named Misty. She grew up in Greensboro, NC but has lived in Raleigh over 30 years.

Ann has been involved in a number of boards, committees and organizations. She serves on the planning committee of the Making Magic Alliance. This organization provides scholarships for children and youth to summer camps. Ann served on the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education Board of Directors for 10 years. She served as President and chaired the Ready, Set Poe Family Festival and Road Race. Ann has served on the Wake County PTA Council since 1997. She was President for two years and is currently the Chair of the Parent Involvement Committee. Ann is a member of the Cary Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, Wake County Public Health Committee, and North Carolina Prevent Child Abuse.

Some of her past experiences include serving on the Wake Education Partnership Board of Directors, NCL Mother - Daughter Organization, past President of Broughton High School, Daniels Middle School, and Joyner Elementary Schools. Ann has also served on the North Carolina PTA Board of Managers. She was past President of the Friends of the Children at WakeMed and served on the WakeMed Foundation Board. Ann served on the Executive Board of the Friends of Wake County, supporting school bond referenda and the Citizens Advisory Committee for Wake County.

Ann was awarded the Faye Miller Distinguished Service Award from the Poe Center, Wake County Public School System Employee Excellence Award, and the WakeMed Circle of Quality Service Award.

Ann graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College (now University) with a BS in Biology. She is a certified North Carolina Parenting Educator, Certified Family Wellness Instructor, Certified Practical Parent Education Facilitator, Certified A Framework for Understanding Poverty Trainer, and holds a Facilitative Leadership Certificate and Healthy Community Institute for Nonprofit Excellence Certificate.
