CookWELL Kitchen: Celebrating health by improving skills in the kitchen

The Poe Center’s CookWELL teaching kitchen allows people of all ages learn hands on cooking and nutrition skills.

Participants learn basic kitchen safety, nutrition, and make a simple, healthy and delicious dish. Programs are led by ServSafe-trained professionals using evidence-based curriculum. CookWELL kitchen can accommodate up to 25 people and has 4 workstations.

The kitchen is expected to open late Summer/early Fall 2018. We are currently accepting requests to schedule programs in our kitchen. Keep an eye out on our Facebook or Twitter for updates!

Participants will…

  • Learn to prepare and eat a variety of fruits and vegetables
  • Learn basic kitchen safety and knife skills
  • Improve their relationship with wholesome foods (better food choices, attitudes, and behaviors)
  • Positively impact their health.
  • Learn how to bring food from garden to table
  • Learn about the nutrients in their food and how to make choices to support health
  • Have fun, hands-on experiential learning
  • Receive take-home recipe cards

Programs are available in English or Spanish.
