Parents, guardians, educators and counselors are invited to a FREE workshop on drug and alcohol abuse and ways to equip young people with the skills to make healthy choices.

The workshop, “Drugs Uncovered: What Parents and Adults Need to Know”, will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at West Cary Middle School, located at 1000 Evans Road, Cary 27513.

This workshop is presented by the Poe Center.

Recently updated and enhanced, the Poe Center’s DRUGS UNCOVERED program explores the teenage drug, alcohol and tobacco culture of today. The two hour workshop combines a lecture-style format with an interactive, traveling exhibit.  At approximately 20’ X 20’, the Poe Center’s “Teenager of Today’s Bedroom” holds over 70 references to substances that include elements of pop culture and common and not-so-common hiding places for drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
!
Participants will learn about trends in substance abuse and ways to communicate effectively with children and teens about these issues. All attendees will also receive free materials, including resources to educate young people about being drug-free and alcohol-free.
!
Parents and adults who work with elementary, middle and  high school students are strongly encouraged to participate!  This program is for ADULTS ONLY!
