During the week of June 15-19, Poe Staff and an energetic group of rising 1st-5th grade campers had an amazing time at the June 2015 Healthy Habits Camp! The group convened at the Poe Center each day for a full schedule of fun, health-related activities. Campers participated in lessons on nutrition, dental health, bullying, and germ safety, enjoyed a scavenger hunt at PlayWell Park, and ran off extra energy with physical activity exercises and exciting games.

Each day brought a new adventure for the campers. On Tuesday, Marbles Kids Museum provided a collection of bugs and worms for campers to observe up close with magnifying glasses. On Wednesday, swim suits and bare feet replaced shorts and tennis shoes for a Wet Wednesday water party. On Friday, campers presented their parents with fun, walking exercises they can do as a family.

By the week’s end, campers had become Nutrition Detectives, flexed their creative muscles with arts and crafts, and learned about the importance of taking care of their bodies with healthy habits.

Don’t just take our word for it.
