RALEIGH, N.C. - The Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education
announced today that Pamela Highsmith has been named chief executive
officer. Kim Raynor, vice president of business development, has served
as interim CEO since Sheila Ryba resigned in July.
Highsmith has been the associate executive director of
the North Carolina Medical Society Foundation for the past 11 years. In
addition to her executive experience, she has a background in education
both as a middle school teacher and a health education program
coordinator for the North Carolina Medical Society Foundation.
Highsmith will oversee the implementation of the Poe
Center's strategic plan as the organization continues to expand
statewide. The Poe Center provides interactive health education programs
for youth in preschool through twelfth grade across North Carolina.
Since opening in 1991, the Poe Center has educated over 715,000
participants in 73 counties across the state.
"We are very
excited to have Pam joining the Poe Center to bring her well rounded
experience," said Ann Rollins, president of the Poe Center Board of
Directors. "Her passion for health education combined with a career
filled with steady growth and vision made her an obvious choice for our
board."
A search conducted by Greene Resources, Inc. of
Raleigh brought Highsmith to the attention of the Poe Center's Board of
Directors.
