Health Educator

Alicia joined the Poe staff as an Occasional Health Educator in January 2019. Originally from Michigan, she holds a Bachelors in Science from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Public Health degree from Des Moines University’s online program. Alicia is a Certified Health Education Specialist and a Youth Mental Health First Aid trainer.

Alicia brings prior experience working as a community health program administrator, program evaluation coordinator, and behavioral health prevention specialist in both Northeast Michigan and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has worked with a variety of populations, educating communities on numerous public health topics, but primarily focused on substance use prevention, teen pregnancy prevention, mental health, injury prevention, and nutrition/physical activity. Working with youth is most enjoyable for her, as she hopes to promote healthy decision-making through interactive learning.

In her free time, Alicia enjoys yoga, crafting, gardening, cooking, traveling, and volunteering at her children’s school. She resides in Clayton with her husband, three sons and pets.
