Ann Updated - August 2014Ann Rollins joined the Poe Center as the Executive Director in May 2011.  Prior to that, Ann served as the Interim CEO for a year.  Ann has worked as a Microbiologist in the Pathology Department at WakeMed for over 30 years. She began as a full-time employee then moved to a part-time position when her children were in school and now works in a casual position there. Ann worked with the Wake County Public School System for 5 years where she was the administrator of the Partnership for Educational Success and Parent Liaison Programs. In this role she identified, coordinated and implemented programs and strategies that linked families and the community with the schools in order to strengthen student success in partnership with the Wake County Human Services staff.

Ann is married to Tom Rollins and has three children: Charlotte, Michelle and Matthew. She grew up in Greensboro, NC but has lived in Raleigh the past 30 years.  Ann enjoys sporting events and traveling, as well as spending time with her family. Ann is a deacon at First Baptist Church in Raleigh.

Ann has been involved in a number of boards, committees and organizations. Ann served on the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education Board of Directors for 10 years. She served as President and chaired the Ready, Set Poe Family Festival and Road Race. Ann has served on the Wake County PTA Council since 1997. She was President for two years and is currently the Chair of the Parent Involvement Committee. Ann is a member of the Wake County Nurse Family Partnership Community Advisory Board, WCPSS School-To-Career Program Career Advisory Teams (Cats), NC School Health Connection Advisory Board, WC Health & Wellness Stakeholders, Cary Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, NC Women’s Forum, Wake County Public Health Committee and Vice Chair of the Wake County School Health Advisory Committee.

Some of her past experiences include serving on the Wake Education Partnership Board of Directors, Making Magic Planning Committee (summer camp experiences for children), NCL Mother – Daughter Organization, past President of Broughton High School, Daniels Middle School, and Joyner Elementary Schools. Ann has also served on the North Carolina PTA Board of Managers. She was President of the Friends of the Children at WakeMed and served on the WakeMed Foundation Board. Ann served on the Executive Board of the Friends of Wake County, supporting school bond referenda and the Citizens Advisory Committee for Wake County.

Ann was awarded the School Health Champion Award in July 2011, the Faye Miller Distinguished Service Award from the Poe Center, Wake County Public School System Employee Excellence Award and the WakeMed Circle of Quality Service Award.

Ann graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College (now University) with a BS in Biology.  Ann received her Duke University Certificate in Nonprofit Management this past spring.   Ann is a member of the NC Association of Fundraising Professionals as well as the Triangle Chapter of AFP. She is a certified North Carolina Parenting Educator, Certified Family Wellness Instructor, Certified Practical Parent Education Facilitator, Certified A Framework for Understanding Poverty Trainer, and holds a Facilitative Leadership Certificate and Healthy Community Institute for Nonprofit Excellence Certificate.
