Kristie is a Certified Health Education Specialist and has been working as a community level public health professional in the for the past 5 years. She earned her Master of Public Health degree from East Carolina University and after many years of experience in nutrition education, childhood obesity, weight management, diabetes and heart disease prevention, she decided to bring her talents to Raleigh.

Kristie joined the Poe Center as an Occasional Health Educator in November 2018 and has since focused on cooking programs both offsite and in Poe’s amazing CookWell Kitchen. Kristie is no stranger to the kitchen and enjoys cooking and teaching others how to cook in healthy ways.

Her former roles with NC Cooperative Extension’s EFNEP program and at East Carolina University’s Family Medicine Center assisting with the Weight Management Program and coordinating a Diabetes Prevention Program have prepared her to provide nutrition education and teach cooking skills to diverse groups of adults and youth.

Outside of work, Kristie enjoys leading her women’s fitness small group, playing tennis and finding fun events around the triangle.
