Sofia Moyano-Kleckner, LPCC, CHES
Spanish Community Health Educator

Sofia was born and raised in Lima, Peru. She obtained her B.A. in Education from the Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazon and completed a graduate program in Administrative Education from Universidad de Lima. For almost 10 years she worked as a faculty member in private and public universities in Lima, Peru until she was awarded a full scholarship from the University of Cincinnati to pursue further studies in the United States. Sofia obtained a M.Ed in Health Promotion and Education and a M.A. in Community Counseling from the University of Cincinnati. She is also a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio.

In Cincinnati, Ohio, Sofia worked as an adjunct faculty at the University of Cincinnati, as a program director in the non-profit sector, as a substance abuse prevention consultant and as licensed mental health clinician. Sofia’s husband’s employment led them to North Carolina in which she has continued her work in program management and in mental health. She has also become a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of North Carolina.

Sofia joined the Poe Center in 2018 as a Spanish Community Health Educator. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work at Poe and use her skills to empower and educate communities and individuals to make educated informed decision about their health.
