Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates: Field Trips, Events, Visitors, etc.

Updated: March 23, 2020

Statement from Ann Rollins,
Executive Director:

“In response to the rapidly evolving state of emergency, the Poe Center is evaluating our practices and procedures daily to ensure we are following the latest prescribed protocols to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and protect our program participants, visitors, and staff.   We have outlined our current procedures below and will continuously update them as needed.

Even though our doors are closed, the Poe Center is still very much active and here to help. We have a wealth of online resources for teachers, youth, and adultsPlease share them widely. We are also working to develop new resources to help support people during this crisis.

I continue to be amazed at the flexibility and professionalism of the Poe Center staff.  I am so proud to be a part of an organization with such caring and innovative health educators.  While my world has become my home and outside walking at off hours to keep physically distanced, I am thankful for this opportunity for our staff to expand their capabilities and opportunities to provide preventative health education in these uncertain times.

Every Monday, the staff gathers to get organized for the week ahead, and we end on an inspirational quote. I’d like to share this with you all to help you with the challenging weeks ahead: ‘Our ability to handle life’s challenges is a measure of our strength of character,’  by Les Brown.

Thank you for your continued support.” – Ann Rollins
