30th Anniversary Celebration – The State of Health: Past, Present, Future

September 20, 2021 - September 22, 2021 6:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Join us for our 30th Anniversary Celebration – The State of Health: Past, Present, Future

For 30 years, the Poe Center has positively impacted the lives of North Carolinians through health education. This year’s annual meeting and conferences are dedicated to celebrating this milestone and examining the state of health in North Carolina. Featuring Coach LeVelle Moton as the keynote speaker and community health champions as presenters and panelists, the conference will address the past, present, and future state of our health. We will celebrate the advancements made in the last thirty years, critically examine current community wellbeing and disparities, and envision the future of health.

In September, there will be a hybrid online and in-person VIP Event and Poe Center Annual Meeting to kick things off followed by two days of a Keynote Address and Panel Discussions. You will have the opportunity to select an in-person or online ticket!

Panels: The conferences will host panels of experts and health champions to discuss the past, present and future state of our health in North Carolina. Tuesday’s panel will provide an overview of the state of health in North Carolina. Building on this theme, on Wednesday, panels will provide practical examples of how businesses and nonprofit organizations are addressing the state of health for their employees and the community.

Tuesday:
The State of Health in North Carolina: Reflecting, Projecting and Preparing. A panel of local and state experts will paint the picture of our State’s overall health and how we have been impacted by the pandemic. The panelists will address how we have become more inclusive in our focus – through expanded definitions of health and wellness as well as addressing the needs of a diverse and changing population. They will examine health as a community issue that requires individuals, businesses and organizations to act as they play a distinct yet vital role in propelling us to a healthier future.

Wednesday:
Companies Making the State of Health a Priority: Hear from Triad business leaders who represent diverse industries but who all share a commitment to their employees’ total health while endeavoring to support the greater community’s wellness whether it be through their products, services, corporate social responsibility, or sustainable business practices. Learn how they each came to understand that a healthy workforce and community is integral to the success of businesses in the area.

Non-Profit Agencies Dedicated to Improving the State of Our Health: This panel will include representatives from a variety of non-profit agencies which are each playing a valuable and distinct role in ensuring the global health of the communities they serve. Each panelist will offer their unique perspectives on the various components of overall wellness and will provide practical advice and examples to the attendees so we can all work together to ensure a healthier North Carolina for future generations.

Annual Meeting: Poe will recognize incoming and outgoing Board Members and honor community members and health champions who contribute to children’s health and education in North Carolina.
