Drugs Uncovered: What Parents Need to Know at Halifax County Department of Social Services

Parents, guardians, educators and counselors are invited to a FREE workshop on drug and alcohol abuse and ways to equip young people with the skills to make healthy choices.

The workshop, “Drugs Uncovered: What Parents Need to Know”, will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:o0 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Halifax County Department of Social Services located at 4421 Highway 301, Halifax 27839.

Workshop participants will explore the mock bedroom of a teenager to discover ways children and teens typically conceal, promote, and abuse drugs, alcohol and tobacco. They will learn about trends in substance abuse and ways to communicate effectively with children and teens about these issues. Participants also will receive free materials, including resources to educate young people about being drug-free and alcohol-free.

Food and refreshments will be provided!
