Girl Talk 2: Mother/Trusted Adult & Daughter Workshop – IN PERSON Session

January 7, 2023 9:30 am - 11:00 am

Join us IN PERSON for our popular Girl Talk 2 Workshop!

Girl Talk 2 is a unique workshop designed for middle school-aged girls and their moms/trusted adults. This interactive workshop expands upon the information from Girl Talk 1 related to the growth and development girls experience during puberty, including the structure and function of the male and female reproductive systems and the way they work together throughout the processes of fertilization and conception. In addition, sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy, as well as abstinence and other methods of prevention, are introduced. Regarding the social and emotional changes that come with puberty, concepts related to internet and social media safety, peer pressure, boundaries and consent, and healthy relationships are addressed. The program has been designed with activities that facilitate and encourage open parent/adult-child communication both during the program at Poe and into the future. Recommended prerequisite is Girl Talk 1.
