#YouthCulture – A Spring Workshop Series hosted online
by the Poe Center

The Poe Center’s #YouthCulture workshop series is designed to empower parents/guardians by providing up-to-date information on substance use prevention, internet safety, and relationships to support healthy choices. The adult program series is for adults only.

Throughout this COST-FREE series, we will also offer separate Youth Programs that complement adult programs. The youth programs are for youths only.

All sessions will be held online. Feel free to attend any and all workshops.

In this YOUTH program, participants will dig deeper into understanding safety on phone and computer apps and why it is important to make good choices while using those platforms.

This ADULTS ONLY program is an interactive program for adults who interact with youth. The program explores bullying definitions, statistics, and trends, including cyberbullying.

This program uses an intervention strategy that focuses time and skill-building to help bystanders stand up and speak up when it comes to bullying in their schools, neighborhoods, and communities.

This ADULTS ONLY program will teach parents and other adults to recognize warning signs of unhealthy dating relationships and potential dating violence in teen relationships.

This ADULTS ONLY program addresses the growing concern of e-cigarettes and youth. Participants will explore adolescent brain development and the effects of e-cigarettes as we cover the latest research.

Vaping 101 educates students on the latest research about the addictive nature of nicotine and how it impacts their growing brain and body.

This ADULTS ONLY program will teach how early-onset substance use affects the development of the adolescent brain. Participants will learn important skills and resources to address the trends in substance use today.

In this FAMILY program, parents/guardians and children will learn the facts about alcohol, tobacco/e-cigarettes, marijuana, and other drugs through an interactive game modeled after the popular show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

This ADULTS ONLY program will teach about the growing concern of opioid use (prescription pain medicine and heroin) in our communities and how to recognize the risk factors, youth perception of risk, the scope of the opiate problem, signs and symptoms, as well as action steps and resources to keep children from opioid use.

The Science of Addiction presentation will address the neurological ramifications when a psychoactive drug is introduced in the brain.

The Dimensions of Wellness is an interactive program that provides ADULTS with the educational tools to manage stress and build a self-care plan. In addition, this program empowers adults to assist young people with their self-care and coping strategies so they can build emotional resilience as they grow.
