Occasional Health Educator: Nutrition/Cooking Focus

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Health Educator, the occasional health educator delivers consistent, high-quality health education to children PreK-12th grade and adults. The Poe Center has curriculum for five broad health education topics: general health, family life, dental health, substance use prevention and nutrition/physical activity. This position would focus in all five areas, although this position will be primarily teaching nutrition and cooking programs.

The health educator assists in the research, design, and development of health education curriculum, evaluation instruments, and supplemental materials. The health educator is responsible for day-to-day responsibilities related to the delivery of instructional programs at the Poe Center and offsite, including teacher training, community outreach and development and maintenance of resource materials.

Qualification Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of two years of practical education/teaching experience in learner-centered training environments.
  • Technology literacy a must.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred (English/Spanish).
  • RD or nutrition degree preferred.

Administrative Assistant (Part-time)

Position Summary:

The Administrative Assistant works directly with on-site schools and other groups that come to the Poe Center for programming. The Administrative Assistant also contacts schools to confirm upcoming programming. The Administrative Assistant provides support for the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Operations Specialist, and other members of staff. The Administrative Assistant is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism as they work with visitors, donors, volunteers, school groups, and the Board. The Administrative Assistant supports the smooth day-to-day operations of the Poe Center.

Qualification Requirements:

  • A BA or BS degree.
  • Computer literacy and mastery of Microsoft Office and G Suite software is a must.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Substance Use Prevention Coalition Coordinator:
Johnston County, NC

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Substance Use Prevention Director, the Coalition Coordinator provides oversight and leadership in the development, implementation, reporting and evaluation of the collaborative substance use prevention efforts in the target community. (S)he collaborates with other community, county, state, and federal partners. (S)he facilitates prevention strategies including environmental, community-based process, recurring education, and information dissemination with the Management Team. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with benefits.

Qualification Requirements:

  • A Certified Substance Abuse Prevention Consultant preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in community coalition work including policy advocacy, community mobilization, substance use prevention community strategies.
  • BA or BS required.
  • Experience in grant writing, monitoring, and reporting required.
  • Experience in program evaluation is preferred.
  • Computer literacy including G Suite, experience with online reporting systems and data management required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
