Plan a Program

  1. Explore our Educational Topics to learn more about the programs the Poe Center
    offers.
  2. Search the Program Directory by grade/audience and topic to generate a list of
    programs for your specific needs.
  3. Plan Two Programs and Save. Learn more about program cost.
  4. Determine Your Dates & Location. We are flexible.
      • Dates – Send us three options. We will find a time on the schedule that works best for you.
      • Location – Programs may be presented at the Poe Center, in your classroom or location, or live online. The choice is yours.
  5. Let us know if you have any questions or special requests. All programs may be

      • Tailored for any age group and adapted to correspond with a specific curriculum.
      • Adjustable for length and content.
      • Online programs are available on multiple platforms, including Zoom, Google Meet, and others applications as needed.

Schedule Your Program

Submit our online form below. We will review your request and do our best to schedule your first choice preferences. Please request a date at least 3-4 weeks from the submission date.

Parents, chaperones and staff can accompany groups at no charge (within the limits established at the time of scheduling). If you have a small group of 10 or less, contact Amanda Bodenheimer to discuss joining a currently scheduled group.

The standard fee for a trip to the Poe Center or for Poe to come to you is outlined below. Programming delivered outside of the Poe Center will incur additional fees.

  • $7.00 per participant for groups with 25 or more participants (or a flat-rate fee of $175.00 for groups with less than 25 participants) for one program*; or
  • $11.00 per participant for groups with 25 or more participants (or a flat-rate fee of $275.00 for groups with less than 25 participants) for two programs (delivered on the same day, to the same group of participants)*.

Groups visiting the Poe Center can have a fun adventure in the Cranium Connection, tour our GrowWELL Garden and All About Bees Apiary, and play at WakeMed’s PlayWELL Park playground at no additional charge.

*Discounts may be available for Nutrition & Physical Activity programs for eligible schools.

Offsite Fees:

  • A $25.00 Offsite Processing Fee will apply to all offsite programming.
  • For programming delivered outside of Wake County, a small travel charge will apply and is based upon the Standard Mileage Rate issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Preschool Groups – 30 minute preschool program fees are as follows:

  • $6.00 per participant for groups with 25 or more participants (or a flat-rate fee of $150.00 for groups with less than 25 participants) for one program; or
  • $8.00 per participant for groups with 25 or more participants (or a flat-rate fee of $200.00 for groups with less than 25 participants) for two programs (delivered on the same day, to the same group of participants).

CookWELL Kitchen Programs:

  • Teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) (Grade 10 – Grade 12)

A cancellation fee may apply. Program fees are non-refundable but may be applied toward sessions that are rescheduled within a 12-month period. There is no additional fee for rescheduling, but sessions must be completed within 12 months of their originally scheduled date.

The Poe Center is following best practices and public health guidance to keep visitors and staff safe during COVID-19.

General Information

Please provide all requested information. An incomplete form will delay the processing time. If you are scheduling Family Life programming, and will have more than 50 participants, please note in the Comments/Question section if you prefer to split your group by gender or by classrooms.

    Please Note: Some programs may not be available as an online option. The Scheduling Coordinator will notify you of any conflicts and assist in selecting online programs to meet your needs.

     

    Program Choices

    Please select the program(s) you would like to schedule. For groups of 25 or more participants, one program is $7.00 per participant and two programs are $11.00 per participant.

    Dates

    Please request a date at least 3-4 weeks from the submission date. We will do our best to schedule your first choice date, but we will not always be able to do so. Please have alternative dates ready. If you are scheduling for multiple dates, please let us know in the comment box.

    PlayWell Park Playground: Appropriate for elementary only. Picnic facilities are available, if you would like to bring lunch.

     

    If you do not receive a response to your scheduling request within (7) business days please call (919) 231-4006 or contact Amanda Bodenheimer. Some firewalls will block your request and it may not reach the Poe Center. We apologize for any inconvenience if this occurs with your scheduling request.
