Blue Wild Indigo is a herbaceous perennial wildflower in the bean family. This plant is classified as an endangered species in North Carolina. Due to its deep tap root, it is drought-resistant, making Wild Indigo a low-maintenance plant. Lavender-blue flowers will appear in the spring, along with black fruit with several seeds.

Fun Fact: When the seed pods have turned dry and black, give them a shake to hear the rattle.
