Wake County Tobacco-Free Community Forum - In Person

April 25, 2024 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Working Toward a Tobacco-Free Wake County for everyone.

The Poe Center for Health Education, in partnership with Wake County Human Services, Wake County Public Schools, and the American Heart Association invite the Triangle community to work toward a tobacco-free community at the Tobacco-Free Community Forum.

This is a FREE event.

1 in 8 high school students currently use a tobacco product – that’s about 3 in every classroom (North Carolina Youth Tobacco Survey, 2022). E-cigarettes continue to be the #1 tobacco product used by youth. Youth tobacco use continues to be a health crisis. The purpose of the Forum is to move the needle and make a healthy difference in the lives of Wake County residents.

Date: Thursday, April 25th, 2024

Time: 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location:
WakeMed Andrews Center
3024 New Bern Avenue
Raleigh, NC, 27610

Join us as we:

  • Hear from Wake County youth.
  • Hear from leading experts on the current trends and health impacts of the vaping epidemic.
  • Discuss current and future policies that facilitate tobacco-free environments.
  • Create action plans for healthier schools and communities.

Hosted at WakeMed’s Andrews Center, this youth-led forum will feature a review of current trends and a discussion of action steps that youth, parents and community leaders can take to support tobacco-free environments.

Panel will provide opportunities for youth, parents, and community members to hear about and participate in conversations about strategies that reduce youth tobacco use and to empower communities in the solution.
