Gardenia is a broad-leaf evergreen in the coffee family. This dwarf variety grows low, as the name implies. In the spring, showy white flowers have a sweet floral scent with a touch of earthiness. Later on in the fall, a small orange fruit appears and provides a food source for birds and critters. If you love the scent, prune off dead flower heads to increase flower production all summer long.
