Youth Empowerment
What is Youth Empowerment?
The Poe Center’s Youth Empowerment Teams strives to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors around a variety of health topics while building life and career skills. As the students increase their own healthy habits, they will have an opportunity to develop and implement a project for their peers.
Youth Empowerment Requirements:
- Must be in high school (9th-12th grade).
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Attend specific trainings and community events.
- Be available to participate in the program during after school hours (evenings) and possibly weekends.
What Will Be Expected of Members?
- Educate youth and adults about healthy habits on a variety of health topics.
- Attend at least two meetings/events per month.
- Keep in communication with your Adult Team Leaders.
- Be sensitive to various socioeconomic settings, cultures, and individual backgrounds.
