October 9 – Muffin Mystery – Campers will lead a tasty STEM experiment as they use the scientific method to prepare and experiment with making blueberry muffins. Experimenting with food substitutions and the impact on food flavor and texture. Campers will also practice beginner knife skills to help prepare lunch.
November 7, 2023 – Battle of the Breads – “Battle of the Breads” is an exciting program that teaches participants the art and science of bread making. Through a hands-on approach, students will learn how different types of flour and ingredients come together to create delicious and unique breads with varying characteristics. Campers will also tour and harvest from the Poe garden, learn to chop their own seasonal veggies, and prepare a healthy, tasty soup for lunch.
February 20, 2024 – Taco Tuesday – Campers will prepare turkey and vegetarian tacos, a variety of salsas, make their own tortilla chips, and practice knife safety skills
March 11, 2024 – Poe Camper Cook-off! – Camp chef groups work together to compete in a food prep challenge. Participants will be provided with a variety of ingredients and get creative with cooking. Taste testing to follow!!
Registration is $25 for each session.
*Campers may attend one day, two days, three days, or all four. Tickets for each day sold separately. Cost of each ticket includes all materials and lunch. All classes will teach kitchen safety, knife skills, and preparing healthy recipes. All classes are occurring on Wake County teacher workdays.
