Broccoli is a cool-season crop that thrives in rich, well-drained soil and plenty of sunlight. Broccoli is one of the few crops from which we eat the flower part of the plant. The plant prefers consistent moisture; so keep the soil evenly damp throughout the growing season. After about 70–100 days, you’ll have crisp, green heads ready to harvest before the yellow flowers begin to bloom. Enjoy fresh broccoli steamed, roasted, or raw for a great source of vitamin C, vitamin K and fiber.
