Hostas are an ornamental plant in the asparagus family that come in a variety of colors, textures, sizes, and flowers. Their bell-shaped flowers bloom in the summertime and are white, lavender, or purple in color. Hostas are mainly known for their striking foliage rather than their flowers. This plant is vibrant in the shade and requires a dormant period with temperatures below 40 degrees in the winter.
