Figs are known as a sweet fruit, but they harmonize perfectly in savory dishes as well. Our expert GrowWELL Garden health educators share advice on how to tell if a fig is ready to be harvested or if it needs a little more time to ripen. Educators also will share how to maintain a fig tree as well as some interesting fig facts. Figs are more than meets the eye!

Once the figs are harvested, our expert CookWELL Kitchen health educator shares step-by-step instructions for customizing your personal fig pita pizza. Balancing sweet and savory, fig-topped pizzas are a perfect chance to try new foods and customize to your liking.

Planting seasons may vary depending on your planting zone. Because the Poe Center is located in central North Carolina, we plant in Zone 8B. To find your planting zone, go to https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/
